Sexy jeans journal page

Sexy jeans journal page

I’m back with a new art journal page. The theme is male sexyness. I associate the dark jeans colors with very sexy muscled men and the smell of after shave. A sexy car and a rather random card of Neptune.

I think the prettiest part of this journal page is the background. I drew a lot of bubbles with regular felt-tip markers, I added some pieces of a textbook page I ripped into pieces and then layered black and blue waterpaint on top. I added some details with my navy blue flexmarker and some strips of paper on which I doodled with a blue felt-tip marker.

I’m really pleased with the result. The page definetly has something cool and manly about it, but it also gives me a feeling of balance and peace.

I hope you like it!

colored kawaii doodle

colored kawaii doodle

I made this doodle while watching tv at night and colored it with flexmakers the next morning. I wasn’t in the right mood at all and still don’t like the result. But my boyfriend accidently saw it when I showed him another drawing in my sketchbook and he said he likes it. So what do you think? Is he right? Or should I rip it out of my sketchbook?

Ladybugs on the rainbow

This journal page is very simple and uncomplicated, but somehow I can’t add anything to it. I feel that it’s just right.

I started with the background by drawing stripes with regular felt-tip pens and after it dried I putted some watercolor paint on top. This smudged the felt tip ink  a little but It has a cool effect.

The ladybugs are from an old coloring book, I cut them out and colored them with pencils.

The text is done with marker on a watercolor background.

The quote is: Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Hapiness never decreases by being shared.

Happy quote, happy colors, happy animals 🙂

Hope you like it.

DIY wall art

DIY wall art

I wanted to cheer up a wall in my room, so I went to a local store for paints and wall decoration. There they showed me some very pretty wall stickers. I had already picked the one I wanted and got really excited but then I noticed the stickers were extremely expensive. =(

There were only two things I could do: Give up, go home and stare at my empty wall or PAINT IT MYSELF! So I got two colors of paint and started sketching on paper.  I drew a rough sketch on my wall and then it was time to paint.

It was not as hard as I expected actually. I picked a rather simple drawing with smooth easy lines because it had to be perfect from the first time. You can’t erase paint!

I’m really happy with the result and I think it’s even better than the sticker. I did this myself, it shows my creativity and my personality and I can be proud of myself. I feel good every time I look at it and it was way cheaper.

Despicable me speed drawing

I love despicable me! It’s all sooo cute! 🙂
Here I made a ten minute drawing of some minions because I wanted to include them in my sketchbook.
I used flexmarkers for coloring.

Two shades of grey: cool gery 3 and cool grey 5
Two shades of yellow: buttercup and tulip yellow

The inside of the mouth; rose peach
blue for the background; cloud blue

Have a nice day!

Something different: apple and chocolate muffins.

Hi guys!

Nothing artsy today, but some serious baking. Somehow I really like baking cookies, cupcakes and muffins, but only if I have time to do so.  I do not like rushing in the kitching like my mum always does. Baking should be relaxing, not stressing! So today I have time and so I decided to make muffins. I’ve been reluctant to bake some muffins as last time they turned out totaly wrong. The dough seemed to have risen, but when I bited the muffins they all had a giant air bubble inside and the dough around was soggy and heavy. Not a big succes, I can tell you. Today I found the courage to try again with these awesome apple and chocolate muffins.

Here’s the basic muffin recipe I used (12 muffins)

  • 280 g flour
  • 1 pinch of salt (I didn’t add this)
  • 120 g sugar + 16 g vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml milk
  • 90g butter

I melted the butter and let it cool. Added the dry ingredients together. Added the wet ingredients together. Put the wet with the dry and most important, I didn’t stir too much.

I have a pan for 12 muffins that I prepped with cupcakecups. I added a layer of the mixture and some apple pieces to each cup and then some more batter. I finished them with more apple on top. I did the same for the chocholate muffins. I know people often mix the chocolate or apple in the batter, you can do that instead.

Now they go in the oven at 200°C. See how big they get? Cool!

Here is the finished result:

Hope you enjoyed this slightly different post,

I did, Yummie!!! 🙂

Art improvement challenge 1: self portrait.

As I have some time on my hands at the moment, I figured I would look up some art challenges. I came accross this site: I really liked the first challenge: drawing a self portrait. A self-portrait is a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist. This is something I never tried before and I’m confident I will learn from it. So I looked up a picture of myself.

And started my drawing. It didn’t took me long to draw it, but I only did pencil lines. I could use a whole lot of practice, no one would recognise me,  but somehow I’m happy with the result.

So here is my self portrait, now it’s up to you. Take on the challenge, pick up your pencil and give it your best shot!

Big hugs,

Pretty home made cards

I’ve never been a great gift picker, but now I know how to give a personal touch to my gifts. I make my own cards! Never underestimate the appreciation you’ll get for a home made card and it’s fun to make! I got started by watching some amazing card making video’s on youtube and then I tried it myself. Honestly, my first cards were horrible. But you get the hang of it after a while.

Here are the firsts card I made. The first one I gave to my mum for her birthday. The green background is just white paper I coloured with my apple flexmarker. The purple is patterned paper that I placed on white paper that I cut with formed scissors. The image is from a Diddl blocnote , I didn’t draw that myself. The flower is just layers of coloured paper and a button. For the pink one I folded a paper bow and used some rinestones. Want to learn how to fold a bow? Go here: The tulips and daisies for the next cards are foam flowers.

I don’t see the point of explaining step by step how I did this, just gather some material and use your imagination. It can’t go wrong!

I also made three little cards to tie to flowers or on a gift.  Here I used some patterned paper, my flexmarkers and some foam flowers. I think they’re Pretty!

That’s it for now, big hugs!

Passion and dreams – journal page

Passion and dreams - journal page

Here’s a new journal page. It’s all about chasing your dreams and remembering your inner strength. We all need to a reminder to make us live up to our dreams from time to time. There is so much to discover and to achieve in life, you can’t afford to hold back 🙂

How did I do it? I started painting with black and purple. I chose a purple color scheme for two reasons. First of all, I don’t own purple flexmarkers at the moment so I rarely do something with purple shades and second, must of my paints are old and dried out, except for blue and pink. So purple it is.

Next I wrote the quote and added details like the patern paper dots and foam flowers. I don’t think there’s more to say about this…

I hope you like it!

Your sketchbook is your journal

If you look back trough your sketchbook you somehow now how you felt when you made a certain drawing. Memories come to your mind when you see your own work.

Wouldn’t it be intersting to really turn your sketchbook in a journal? I want to try to fill up a page from time to time that explains how I feel at that moment.

Here is my first one. I used a quote: ” you may think the grass is greener on the other side. But if you take the time to water your own grass, it would be just as green. ” This explains really good how I feel recently. I’m happier than ever before and I’m gratefull for every chance life offers me. I feel like people are not as happy as they could be, just because they don’t appreciate what they have, nor use the opportunities they get.

To be happy, in my opinion, you need to be gratefull for the small things. Be gratefull for your boyfriend cuddling you, be gratefull for a butterfly flying around in your garden, be gratefull for the people you meet,… And another big key is saying ‘yes’ to new things! Try new stuff, even if you are afraid. Go to new places, talk to new people, try new activities,… Explore your world.

This page in my sketchbook will always be there to remind me to be gratefull. From now on, I’ll keep making journal pages, to make sure I’ll remember the important things in live.

Big hugs!
